FIRM HISTORY
Hugo Reed and Associates was founded in 1948 as a land surveying firm, and since then has operated continuously in the Lubbock region. The firm evolved in 1978 to incorporate civil engineering services. HRA is now the largest firm in the region offering professional land surveying and civil engineering services “under one roof.”
HRA has acquired extensive experience on multi-discipline design teams working on large feasibility studies and municipal and institutional construction projects. Our contributions include infrastructure research and analysis, performance of design topographical surveys, cost estimating and designs for site and municipal utilities, site drainage, grading, paving, pedestrian and vehicular access, traffic control, demolition, and pollution and erosion control planning.
Recent projects for which HRA provided some or all of the above services include the O'Reilly Distribution Center Facility in Lubbock Business Park (design currently underway), Milwaukee Avenue project in Lubbock, Overton Park Redevelopment project in Lubbock, Physician's SurgiCenter of Lubbock, TTU Jones SBC Stadium expansion and renovations, TTU Football Training Facility, TTU Student Housing addition, TTU Jerry S. Rawls Golf Course, the new Lubbock County Jail facility, and the U.S. Armed Forces Guard and Reserves Center at Lubbock International Airport.

PRINCIPAL-IN-CHARGE
BERNARD J. GRADEL, JR., PE, RPLS
Mr. Gradel is President and CEO of Hugo Reed and Associates. He is licensed as both a professional engineer and land surveyor, and has accumulated over thirty years of experience in both professions in the Lubbock region since graduating from Texas Tech University in 1973. In addition to his extensive professional experience, he has served the Lubbock community in many capacities, and was inducted into the TTU Civil Engineering Academy in 1992.
